The Williams family welcomes you to “your” Village Tie Up.
Our names are Tracy and Brian Williams and we’ve entered into this fantastic venture with our three children; Colby (age 13), Jackson (age 10) and Emma (age 7) and last but not least… our black labs; Miley and Sammy. We purchased The Village Tie Up on September 29, 2009.
We’re no strangers to the Lakes Region or the Village Tie Up, having frequented the location for many years while visiting/vacationing on Long Lake area. We have extensive ties to the Bridgton/Harrison area, including as patrons of the Village Tie Up for many years. Our family and extended family members have been a part of the Bridgton/Long Lake area as business owners, employees, homeowners and vacationers for more than 45 years, dating back to 1962.
Tracy’s deceased grandparents, Dr. Sawyer Medbury, a respected anesthesiologist at a Lewiston hospital and his wife Elizabeth Medbury (Tracy’s grandmother) who owned and operated The Bridgton Book House at one time, purchased a home on Long Lake in the early 60’s. The Medbury’s were known by many in the Bridgton area, most impressively for Elizabeth’s un-wavering devotion for the Boston Red Sox! Tracy’s father, Robert Bartlett, Jr. currently resides in Bridgton.
Brian’s father, Richard Williams graduated from Bridgton Academy in 1964.
Prior to purchasing The Village Tie Up, Brian served as the President of the Portland Pirates (Portland, Maine), the top minor league affiliate for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. Brian was with the Portland Pirates since 2000. Prior to his time with the Pirates, Brian worked at USA Hockey in Colorado Springs, Colorado from 1993-2000. Brian graduated from Springfield College in 1992 with a degree in Sports Management.
Tracy’s background is in education having graduated from Springfield College in 1992 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to starting our own family, Tracy served as the Director of several corporate childcare facilities in Colorado and Maryland. She now serves as the CEO of our household which is no easy task!
The kids… we have three. Colby is our oldest (currently 13) who enjoys being a jokester and playing hockey, lacrosse and anything having to do with the lake including boating, fishing, water skiing and tubing. Jackson is our middle-guy (currently 10) and enjoys all sports, but particularly football and hockey. He’s not afraid of challenging anyone on the Wii. Emma is our youngest (currently 7) and runs the house. She’s the youngest and is growing up with 2 older brothers and in her world… feels as though she has to fight for everything she deserves! Last but not least is our 3-year old black lab named Miley and her brother Sammy. Miley’s not quite used to the store yet and all of the smells, sounds, activities that come with it after having lounged around a quiet dead-end street the first few years of her life. If you hear barking from the windows above on any given day… that’s Miley!
Our family has entered into this venture with a long term vision and commitment to our family, to the Town of Harrison and to the greater Lakes Region, full-well expecting that this already long-standing successful business will be in the family for many, many years to come. When we decided it was time to change our careers it was our kids who helped point the direction, overwhelmingly stating that “the lake” was there very favorite place… even surpassing Disney World!
The Partners change of profession stems from an interest in owning and operating a family owned business that our children can eventually get actively involved with, providing them with valuable business experience and a solid work ethic, while in-turn generating an appreciation for the almighty dollar. It is quite frankly, as simple as that. Our family is first and foremost and we’d like to instill a quality work ethic in our kids.
We’re all thrilled to be a part of this great “Friendly Village” we call Harrison and look forward to contributing to the community in any ways we can in an effort to make this a better place to live, work, play and do business.
